Organic Luffa Plant Starts

$5.50

This year we’re happy to offer organic luffa starts! These starts will be available in May once the threat of frost is past, and at this point we will communicate how to get your starts. There will be two pick up locations. One is in Centerburg at Firefly Homestead, and the other will be in Blacklick at Fig House Farmstead. If these two options don’t work for you feel free to reach out. We may be able to offer delivery to other areas.

These seeds came from the luffa we grew during the 2024 growing season. This season suffered a severe drought. I have never been very good at watering my garden yet my luffa thrived!

Luffa is a wonderful plant! When a luffa is small it can be eaten like a zucchini or cucumber. Once the luffa is bigger you let them keep growing. They will eventually dry on the vine, turn brown, and at this point it’s ready to be picked. At the end of the growing season if you still have green luffa that’s ok! Just bring it inside and it can still dry out and be useful.

Dried luffa makes a great skin exfoliant and kitchen scrubbies making it a perfect replacement for their plastic counterparts!

I’m so thankful for Fig House Farmstead for collaborating with me so that we can offer it to you!
