DB3205/T 101—2018 梅山种猪饲养管理技术规程

This file reproduces a published official local standard for research. No original standard is authored here.

This is a Suzhou municipal agricultural local standard on feeding and management of Meishan breeding pigs, not a conformation “standard of excellence.” It does contain a formal definition of the Meishan pig and selection criteria for replacement breeding stock (including teat-number and appearance requirements). Those clauses are the parts most relevant as a breed-standard source; the rest of the document is husbandry, health, and nutrition.

The appearance of replacement pigs shall conform to the breed characteristics of the Meishan pig. Select according to individual development, appearance, coat color, and similar factors. Cull individuals with genetic variation.

5.3 Selection by measurement

At 6 months of age, carry out one body-weight and body-measurement evaluation of replacement boars and gilts respectively, and select according to the results.
